About
Joelle Rose is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, music teacher, and Master’s student from Mississauga, Ontario. Her debut single, Birdhouse, was named Song of the Year by the City of Mississauga for 2025. Birdhouse was unanimously selected as the winning song by a jury including Ian D’Sa (multi-award-winning producer, songwriter, and guitar player of Billy Talent), Chris Crerar (Head of Audio at Metalworks Institute, Studio Manager and Senior Mastering Engineering at Metalworks Studios), and Bree Taylor (award-winning country singer-songwriter).
As a long-time chorister and staff member for six years at the Mississauga Children’s Choir, performer in local musical theatre, and alumna of the Regional Arts Music Program for voice at Cawthra Park Secondary, Joelle credits her musical upbringing to the city of Mississauga. She began her musical journey at the age of four when she started taking piano lessons. As she continued in classical piano and began singing in choirs and musical theatre, Joelle found joy, community, and a sense of identity in sharing music with others. She feels the most herself when sharing her original music, and feels the most seen when others connect with it.
Joelle currently merges her passion for vocal music and health sciences in her studies and is pursuing a Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Toronto. She is so excited to be performing across Ontario and releasing new music this fall.
"What began as a standout demo was brought to life as a fully produced, professionally recorded, mixed, and mastered track at our studios—one that’s sure to resonate and inspire. We’re excited to watch Joelle’s journey unfold and see where her talent takes her next.”
Gil Moore, Founder of Metalworks Studios and SoundsUnite Canada
